Students in this dance class will investigate a variety of approaches to moving in coordination with others. We will develop our sense of trust, timing, momentum, energy, space and contact, in order to build a dynamic, safe, and creative movement community together. In-class work will be supplemented by limited readings, viewings and other outside activities. Open to all students, regardless of experience.

Watching, listening, sensing, supporting, lifting, floating, flying. These are some of the things we do in partnering. Yet, fundamentally, partnering is a dialog. It asks us to engage with other living, breathing, changeable human being(s), sometimes working toward similar objectives and always needing to navigate constant variability and change. This demands heightened awareness and physical investment of the whole self. Indeed, it requires that we expand our notion of self to include the other(s). It’s basic. It’s doable. It takes practice. We start from there. Let’s see where we go!
